Nearly Cooked! was originally produced for the 2008 Marble City 10 Hour Film Festival. According to the Festival site:
"Filmmaking teams must plan and shoot a three-minute film. Teams will then have 10 hours to produce their film, while also integrating three elements into the film’s narrative in a creative and cohesive manner. These elements—along with the film's genre—will be revealed the morning of the festival."
At 8 AM on Market Square in Knoxville, TN, ThinkTank was assigned three elements: breaking glass, a lock of hair, and a key. Try to find these elements in the movie!
ThinkTank's team, John Fairstein, Laurin Finney, Ardyce Lee, and Ben Smith headed for our location with a load of fresh vegetables and Mr. Potato Head kits. While we were assembling our vegetable people, we collectively developed a plot and story line.
The RED One camera was setup, and we began shooting using an 18mm prime and a 25-250mm zoom using a 4K 2:1 format. Animation was accomplished using the intervalometer function of the RED. We filmed NOS outdoors and indoors, then added the narration, foley, and music in post.
We feverishly assembled and edited the material, burnt a DVD, then rushed back to the festival screening venue at the historic Bijou Theatre to turn in our entry 1/2 hour before the deadline.
